Runners Gambit

Runners Gambit was a collaborative project at university where a team of four and I conceptualised and developed a game from the ground up. Over the course of six months, we each took on unique roles to contribute to the project. My responsibilities included creating character animations, level design, 3D modeling, and skybox design. Our project ultimately became the most popular in our class and was showcased at the end-of-year exhibition.

Character Animation

Gambit required several unique animation sets, including idle, running, carrying, falling, and more. His animations were inspired by low-poly Y2K PlayStation games from the early 2000s. To ensure that his movements aligned with the environment and world we created, I referenced multiple games for inspiration. The animations were created in blender.

Level Design

I designed several levels for players to complete, developing a framework to ensure consistency in both level design and difficulty. This process involved extensive trial and error, including testing and demoing each level after creation to confirm that they were realistic and achievable for end users.
