The Great Race

The Great Race was a university project focused on character rigging techniques. This project involved conceptualising and creating a character to be featured in a short clip that showcased its personality. I opted for a more abstract, two-legged character inspired by 'Rayman,' designing it to have a streamlined, racer-like appearance. The setting drew inspiration from classic Looney Tunes Road Runner episodes set in the outback.

Animatic

For The Great Race, I created an animatic to thoroughly plan out the entire sequence. Using procreate and photoshop I was able to explore camera angles and establish the scene pacing effectively. Additionally, I learned how to set up my 3D scene to best capture a sense of speed.

Character Rigging

A separate aspect of this project focused specifically on sculpting and rigging the model. During this phase, I learned how to integrate a skeleton into my design, enabling me to translate it into animation. Below is a demo reel showcasing the character's initial movements and personality. This model was ultimately used as the main character in the final film.
